Kara has been much more than just a life coach to me—she has been a consistent, trusted presence in my life. In high school, she guided me through all the confusion of being a teenager along with some challenges I faced in my personal life. She helped with so much kindness, honesty, and patience. She always showed up for me, in the good moments and the really hard ones, and over time she became like family.
She encouraged me to try sports, theater & even encouraged me to be a mentor for middle schoolers, and I’m so glad I listened—those experiences not only brought me joy but showed me strengths I didn’t even know I had. That’s who Kara is: someone who sees potential in you before you see it in yourself.
Her influence is one of the main reasons I finished high school, went to college, and even today, she continues to inspire the way I live as a mother. I’ve known her for over a decade, and I can honestly say she has always been someone you can trust—someone who will have your back no matter what! Kara has left a lasting impact on my life because of the incredible person she is.

Last year was a challenging one for my sons—academically, socially, and behaviorally. Kara quickly became their safe space. She took the time to really get to know them, celebrate their strengths, and remind them of the good she saw in them. At the same time, she wasn’t afraid to be real with them, giving honest feedback and helping them course-correct when they needed it.
For me as a parent, Kara was an amazing partner. She advocated for my boys when others had started to give up, and she worked alongside us to help them reflect on their choices, learn from mistakes, and set meaningful goals for their future. Her ability to connect with teenagers is remarkable—she truly “gets” them.
What makes Kara unique is the balance she strikes: she is at once an advocate, teacher, confidant, guide, and partner. She provided the structure and support my boys needed, while also empowering them to make better decisions and grow. They were drifting off course, and with her steady guidance, they found their way back to a healthier, more hopeful path.

I can’t say enough about Kara. Kara has been an integral part of all four of my children’s matriculation through high school. All four have graduated, and they remain in contact with her, which is a testament to her dedication to them and the impact that she has had on their lives. Not only did she encourage them with their academics, letting them know that they could succeed in whatever higher level courses were available, but she was also a trusted mentor, a person that they could go to when they needed a safe space and advice. My oldest is 25 this year, and still communicates with Kara often. She will forever be a part of our extended family. For me as a parent, Kara was an amazing partner.

Being misunderstood is a feeling we all can relate to, but finding someone to truly understand and care about you is rare. As a teenager, starting at a new high school where I knew no one was pretty tough, on top of personal problems I was dealing with at home. I did what I knew best, which was to isolate. But God knew I needed Kara. She has been a true role model and light for me since the day we met. I actually received the most improved student award by my senior year, and I attribute a majority of that to Ms. Brady. After high school I went off to pursue a higher education at the #1 public HBCU in the country. I was an inner city kid with little guidance and little hope for the future. I don’t know what I’d do without her.
